It time for Tom DeLay to go.

The Post talks about increasing concerns over DeLay's criminal activities, even from the GOP. This guy is a real piece of work. His tactics are ruthless and are less about representing his constituency and more about greed and power.

"If death comes from a thousand cuts, Tom DeLay is into a couple hundred, and it's getting up there..." - words from a Republican consultant. ""The situation is negatively fluid right now for the guy..." Hmmmm. It looks like things are beginning to crack from the master liar. We shall see how long this lasts.

You're wrong if you think that only one GOPer wants to see DeLay get what is coming to him. He and his former staff in particular have methods that they find creative ways to justify but which are clearly questionable. Everyday I read the WashPost hoping, hoping, hoping that more stories about what DeLay, Buckham, Rudy, Abramoff and others have done and are doing will come out. With several stories on page A1 above the fold over the past several days, I've been hopeful that they will get the same treatment that Jim Wright and others have gotten. Their constant rule changing only hurts our party. I disagree that the Democrats are the "party of reform," because they created this whole system and were quite happy with it until we took over. Nonetheless, anyone -- Republican or Democrat -- who is in power for too long is vulnerable to this kind of abuse of power. DeLay is just way too good at it, and that's frustrating not only to Dems, but also a number of us GOPers. So take heart. This might be the real thing -- the beginning of the end.

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate that realistic conservatives like yourself see the flaws in your party and the system. I realize that there are many GOPers and conservatives out there who are ashamed of DeLay's actions and attitudes. He does not represent the ideas of their party. It is the responsibility of the Republicans, however, to check themselves, since they have the power right now. DeLay is the first step on this road. And you are absolutely right, Dems don't get a pass. They are part of the same system the Republicans are corrupting right now. They should find ways to keep pressure on this issue, not for "reform" sake, but because it is their job at elected officials.
