Filibuster THIS!

And so it begins... The 2nd War?

Led by a radical arm of the Right Wing, the showdown between church and state, Left and Right is about to come to fruition. There has been a lot of rumbling from Frist and DeLay, who have been receiving pressure from radical Christians. Frist has been increasingly catering to religious fundamentalists and will, what Joe Conason of the NY Observer says, advance the ideology that ""Conservatism" is becoming a radical ideology that discards constitutional balances for the pursuit of unchecked power." This use of "piety for profit" is disturbing indeed. It will take center stage at an upcoming Mega-church event in Louisville Kentucky call "Justice Sunday." Hijacked, no less, by right wing evangelists from its actual roots, Social Justice Sunday. Its past focus was real issues - poverty, homelessness and equality. Now it will a soapbox for Dobson, Perkins, and their merry band of christo-fascist GOPsters as they goat BushCo into "religitizing" the Judiciary. It is already working...

In related news: Two Evangelicals have a conversation about striping the Courts' funds. It was taped and well, frankly, represents how extreme these fascists are willing to move. Hmmm...

I am at a loss here and I am not trying to be naive or condescending here, but what's going on? How can this be possible? You have a party that is in one of its most powerful roles in quite a long time and just not satisfied. BushCo has the chance to set the record straight; to let Americans know they are a party that will represent and protect us. But, they are just mesmerized by the possibility of absolute power. So they infiltrate every little check and balance and destroy it. Soon, there will be no more protection for anyone - not just minorities, unions, women, and gays, but liberals and conservatives alike.

The Filibuster is an important piece to the Constitutional puzzle. It provides a check and balance against ANY abuse of power. Period. If BushCo changes the rules, they are effectively altering the Constitutional language and overthrowing a branch of the US Government. This is not what the Founders wanted and, if anything, would encourage a resistance to this type of nonsense. Why? America is not barbaric. We create a rule of law that was initiated and voted by the People. Our Legislators bring these initiatives before our governing bodies and decide what stays and what goes. The Judiciary decides if it follows the rule of law and interprets it to the best of its ability in all fairness and with the People's concerns in mind. This has worked for hundreds of years and has made us a fair and just society. BushCo does not represent that and never will. Religious folks ought to see that and trust their value networks and look to their word to know that our type of Democratic society protects them and their beliefs. We all know that the all the power should never belong in the hands of the rich and the few...
