The worst kind of compassion conservativism showed up in response to cartoonist C. Padow's Performance Review strip recently. It reads like a O'Reilly script and is flat out disrespectful to those National Guardsmen deployed in Iraq. Here is an excerpt:

"So what?s the big deal? Most of them were only National Guard weekend, wannabe soldiers anyway who joined the Guards to play soldiers and bleed beer money out of the taxpayers. They made their bed, so why should their close relatives cry when things turned a little sour, and they didn?t get recognized as great patriotic heros for dying for their country with personal letters from our President. Don?t those leftist realize our President and Secretary of Defense have more important God ordained things do to than to sign a piddly letter of sympathy?:

WOW!?!
