Bush Flips Out

Keep in mind that CAFTA passed the Senate by TWO VOTES! And only after Repubs extended the vote to bribe fellow Repubs for more than an hour.

Is this for real?

Political payback for Roberts nomination?

Apparently, down in Florida, U.S. Supreme Court nominee John Roberts had his mitts in the Bush 2000 Election theft. If seems fishy that Roberts, who aided lawyers to stop the recount in Florida and "and too worried about ... the Democrats' efforts to subvert the voting process through recounts divining voters' wishes on pregnant, hanging and dimpled chads," who be at the top of the list and ultimately be given the prize by BushCo. Last time I checked, this was political patronage. BushCo really knows who to pick them. His shoe-in is coming under more and more scrutiny with many questions concerning his lack of experience and non-stances on issues currently on the front line.

Roberts is almost like a dark horse. We know nothing about this guy and what he believes. BushCo is stonewalling on document releasing and demands a simple up-and-down, not a "litmus test." This is infuriating - the point is when selecting a lifetime Supreme Court nominee, it is of utmost importance to discover who this person will be and how he or she will represent the United States. If it is a so-called litmus test, so be it. This "test" is administered for the benefit of citizens and how a nominee can affect their lives. This is not a test for partisan beliefs, it is one to find out if this nominee will interpret the Constitution and uphold the law that Americans live by - important to national security, quality of live, freedoms guaranteed to us by our founders- inalienable rights. Why is BushCo so afraid of this? Why can't they play by the Supreme Court nomination process rules laid down before every Administration from the beginning? No scrutiny, no oversight, no checks and balances. This is NOT a government that wants to live in a democratic society.

Dems showing signs of life

Hillary Clinton is looking to unify the Democratic Party. Is this foreshadowing to a possible run? Or a possible move to emulate Bill? The DLC thinks so...

The timing of BushCo's Supreme Court Pick...

Is it that obvious that the Roberts nod coincided to distract Dems from burning Rove? Treasongate is not going away. The offenses of Mr. Bush and his right hand man, fart flower, cannot be swept aside by nominating a conservative white man to the high court, who clearly has his bias.

This nonsense about him being moderate is clearly untrue. His wife plays a prominent role in anti-abortion activities, as BushCo retracts slightly. If BushCo is so worried, why are they not releasing "those memos of candor?" Attorney-client privilege? Hmmm, sounds like stonewalling. But wait! This is the administration's modus operandi. Is there something there? Of course there is - why would be not release memos then?

To top it off, BushCo uses TV-land D.A. from Law & Order, Fred Thompson, as an "advisor" for the Roberts nomination. Granted, Thompson played US Senator in real life for nearly a decade, but this certainly blurs the line between reality and fiction. But, BushCo has made an art of making fiction reality anyway. And, I thought they hated Hollywood - unless, of course, it is used to their advantage - confusing the public as to who Thompson really is as the "reasonable" public face to the City of New York in L-and-O or the "reasonable" public face in propelling a inexperienced conservative jurist to the highest court in the land. I wonder what McCoy would think...

Arcata Adopts Voter Confidence Resolution

After more than a year of hard work and lobbying, colleague, Dave Berman, co-founder Voter Confidence Committee of Humboldt County, CA gets Arcata to pass the Voter Confidence Resolution. As the 2006 Mid-Term elections approach, more and more Americans are becoming weary of another election plagued with problems similar to Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. BushCo continues to cover up the mess and hanky-panky that happened in both elections leading to his "victory." But the questions still linger. Local cities and counties, like Arcata are making critical decisions and taking matters into their own hands. Their states are too inbred with corporate relationships to actually do the right thing and get these voting machines outfitted with paper trials and take them out of GOP privatocracy and into the public domain.

It Can't Happen Here...

Congress gives boost to Patriot Act

Bombs go off, US government shaves off more civil liberties. Sinclair Lewis would be proud. Off course this Administration would make the Patriot ACT provision permanent. Just because I read a book from the library that talks about a hypothetical slow fascist takeover of a Democratic Society doesn't implicate me a possible terror threat. Right?

Or maybe I have a copy of the Koran at home and own a T-shirt that shows BushCo as International Terrorist. Does that mean FBI can search my home without telling me?

Last time I checked, we lived in a free society. BushCo keeps telling us "that is why the terrorists hate us." Radical extremist right-wing hacks spout off daily about how liberals don't fall into line and make us more insecure - "letting the terrorists win." But, I am confused. Is not "letting the terrorists win" by chipping away at our civil liberties that make the USA a "free society?" Don't they win when they force our leaders to terrorize their own citizens?

Somebody needs to answer these questions truthfully...

NeoCon Death Star

Top Aides Reportedly Set Sights on Wilson. And, apparently, Libby is involved. Surprise, surprise...

You know that power mongers, drunk with Empire, will always self-destruct. And, so it begins. It takes the bravery of one man, Joseph Wilson, out to defend his wife and himself against the onslaught of BushCo, whose selfishness and incompetence have put America at greater risk, to demand this administration be held accountable fro its illegal actions.

As Cooper fights for his life, the debate over whether Karl Rove, traitor at large, should or should not be prosecuted for his actions. It does not matter, because the law dictates the consequences for such an action. No name is required, just the association matters.

So, why is Rove not on the street? Even as Bush states: "If someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration.'' Am I living in the Twilight Zone? It is there, plain as day. How long can this be dragged out? Long enough to distract the public's attention from a Supreme Court nominee?

Mr. Bush - Time to put the American people above protecting a criminal, who happens to be your friend. It is a tough decision for anybody, but the President has greater responsibilities.

Karl Rove the Coward...

In the classic "It's not my fault, its his fault" move, Turd Blossom blames the reporter he leaked the information, Robert Novak. E&P comments on the Times coverage: 'NY Times' Bombshell: Rove Talked to Novak About Plame

Figures... First a traitor, now a coward. Is this what Bill Maher meant before ABC censored him? Novak, as you know, represents one of the most "intellectual" conservative mouthpieces to the administration. Don't get me wrong, he does border on the clearly biased to the downright treasonous, and clearly does not understand his own party. When times get tough, they will betray you. And this is the time. Rove and ‘bestest’ buddy of all, Bush, are digging in, putting personal protection above that of the country. This is not the mark of distinguished leaders anywhere. This is selfishness and nepotism. Novak, of all people, should know that. But, it doesn't matter - this is the history of the GOP and their unwillingness to do what is right for love of country - all because of a few power-mongers who assume control and don't allow others to do their jobs.

The drumbeat on Rove continues... When will BushCo honor his promise?

The Stalled Spin on Rove

CIA agent's husband attacks Rove

"It feels like Groundhog Day..."

- Jerry Springer on the radio this morning regarding Press Secretary Scott McClellan continued rapid repetitive response to reporters' questions on what Bush will do to Karl Rove. He has made an art of the dodge and never answers directly. He takes the long way around, and by the time we get back, we are lost. His backtracking on this CIA leak and now Rove – from attack or “deal with that person” to silence, to “confidence” is not helping anybody.

McClellan, of course, "appreciates" the questions, and makes no mention as to why this has become such a pressing issue. He places no blame and mentions no responsibility. He leaves that to the radical extremist right wing talking heads and GOP front men. Who is to blame? Well, let's see - liberals? Right. And MoveOn, and John Kerry, and Howard Dean, and Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton? They must be thinking of 2008. Some are saying he did it for political reasons and not intentionally. It does not matter - he still put the lives of American soldiers in danger and compromised national security. All to get back at Joe Wilson's now to be true intelligence account from Niger. That is the lowest of the lows. With all the vast power and political might that Rove has, he resorts to the lowest denominator to play politics? Pathetic. The playground rules have changed.

Kurtz of The Washington Post appreciatesthe response to the Rove issue. Before he goes off on the liberal response, Freedom of the Press, and Anne Lamott, he comments on right-wing comments: "So the response is that 1) the Dems are playing politics (and Rove wasn't, in dragging in Mrs. Joe Wilson?). And 2) Rove was just performing a public service by steering a reporter away from a false story. (Actually, Wilson was right about the bogus Niger uranium tale, and the White House was wrong, although his credibility did take a hit from a critical Senate intelligence committee report.)" Right you are Howard. But what does it all mean?

This is despicable. Truly. Michael Isikoff, recently of Guantanamo abuse of Koran fame (which we now know to be relatively true, set in motion a series of events that leads right to Bush's Brain. The whole affair is sickening. Time's Cooper has compromised his career. New York Times' Miller is in jail. Robert Novak is still spewing crap, with no mention of his fate.

Slate exclaims: Turd Blossom Must Go. “… I gather that Rove is on shaky ground, but that his firing or resignation is not imminent.” Sure, but in this case, the shakeup begins at the top. Rove's actions are treasonous and the least that Bush should do is fire him. Would it make a difference, since Rove and him are bestest buds? With this Administration - probably not. But the record will show that Mr. Rove endangered America for purely political reasons. America is above that. Should we not take the moral and legal responsibility here? Is that not what makes American Democracy thrive?

Many questions, never any answers, Scott...

That Dog Will Hunt

Rove has got to go. He is a traitor by leaking the name of a CIA Agent and Bush is going back on his promise to fire the person who leaked the identity to Robert Novak.

White House Silence on Rove's Role in Leak Enters 2nd Day

Brendan Murray of Bloomberg news reported today:

"The July 18 issue of Newsweek reported that Rove told Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper that diplomat Joseph Wilson's 2002 trip to Niger to investigate whether Iraq tried to buy uranium there was authorized by his wife, ``who apparently works'' at the CIA. Newsweek cited an e-mail Cooper sent to his editors that the magazine said has been turned over to the prosecutor. Newsweek reported that Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin, said Rove never mentioned Plame's name or that she was a covert agent. "

Does it matter? It is obvious what Rove did, whether he used Plame's name or not, and that is treasonous.

Murray goes on: "Cooper and another reporter, Judith Miller of the New York Times, were ordered to disclose their sources to the prosecutor investigating the leak, and Miller is now in jail for refusing. Cooper agreed to testify. Plame's name surfaced after Wilson wrote an opinion article for the New York Times criticizing the Bush's administration's case for going to war in Iraq. "

This connection of retaliation, even from the corporatist Bloomberg News, is called motive in a Court of Law. Many have been put away for less.

So the drama continues - one reporter in jail, one compromising the First Amendment, and one man behind the curtain about to take the fall. It shows that massive corruption of the Bush Administration runs very deep.

Deep enough to pluck the guy who made BushCo king...

Terrorism is only boost for BushCo

"'This might help Gonzales should Bush nominate him,' said one Republican operative who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of deliberations over Bush's choice. Democrats might hesitate to 'attack [Gonzales] too severely' on those issues now, he said."

People die and BushCo thinks of opportunities.

Pathetic...

All Roads Lead to Rove

BushCo is looking a tad weak in the knees today. It seems that they are taking the approach of beloved enemy and predecessor, William Jefferson Clinton. No comment. Is this a sign of the times or cracks in the cement? See, let's face it, there is nothing left for this administration. They have done nothing to make America safer, have done nothing to make the economy stronger, gutted education, stripped away civil liberties, and got us into a quagmire in Iraq. They can't stand critisism, and can't agree on anything. It is time for Rove to stop screwing up our country...

Death Toll rising in London Bombing

Terror attack on the London Transit System appears to the work of planted bombs, NOT suicide bombers, as the American radical right talking heads would have you think.

Speaking of American radical right wing. I was listening to Springer On The Radio this morning and the following were some of the comments (pulled from the show's website) played by extremist right-wing talk show hosts. I almost vomited...

"I mean, my first thought when I heard -- just on a personal basis, when I heard there had been this attack and I saw the futures this morning, which were really in the tank, I thought, "Hmmm, time to buy."
- Brit Hume

"First to the people of London, and now at the G8 summit, where their topic Number 1 --believe it or not-- was global warming, the second was African aid. And that was the first time since 9-11 when they should know, and they do know now, that terrorism should be Number 1. But it's important for them all to be together. I think that works to our advantage, in the Western world's advantage, for people to experience something like this together, just 500 miles from where the attacks have happened."
- Brian Kilmeade

"We have 33 dead and 150 seriously wounded. I wouldn't call this a successful terror attack."
- Rush Limbaugh

This is infuriating. To minimize and trivialize the loss of many people going about their daily lives in a sound bite to clearly invoke hatred in indefensible. Hannity goes on to call liberalism and the real terrorist threat. This guy has nothing left. Period. Taking the opportunity to blame the Left after every terrorist action in infantile and baseless. The American Right is clearly cracking. It won't be long...

Judge Orders Jail for N.Y. Times Reporter

It Can't Happen Here... Yep. It begins. As if fascist America has other issues to worry about? I find this whole nonsense troubling. It is hard to believe that the reporter is jailed and not the talking head yap-yap Novak, who clearly was treasonous in outing Valerie Plame. Now, what does this all mean, anyway? We can probably extrapolate that are roads lead to Rove, but that does not mean our Freedom of Press be revoked in the mean time.

Bush, the obstacle to a deal on global warming

Tony Blair must feel stupid. He did a big favor for BushCo in being the largest ally in the deceptive invasion of Iraq. So the PM asks for help on poverty relief and slowing global warming. Bush's response: "I go to the G8 with an agenda that I think is best for our country". BushCo is all talk about stopping poverty and working on becoming less dependent on pollution causing fossil fuels, but once action is needed, it is as simple as a Nail in the coffin.

No Bounce: Bush Job Approval Unchanged by War Speech

I am not one to live and die by the poll, but groups of polls or trends over a period of time show us something more substantial. The fact the BushCo polls have been in the dumps for quote a while and a simple rah-rah speech shows no change is a sign that Americans are tired and ready to move on. This administration has dragged us through the mud for far to long and their ability to govern has failed. You can only fool people some of the time.

The interesting information in the Zogby poll is further down and concerns the idea of impeachment for the President and his culpability in deceiving us into war. This show quite a polarization divided mostly along party and geographical lines. To be expected? Maybe, but the numbers are increasing steadily and no amount of Rove will stop the bleeding when the referendums come down in 2007.

Let's pray for balance - it is the only way to bring the peace. BushCo will go down in history as one of the most corrupt, along with Harding and Hoover. We know it and will never forget. What we need to concentrate on is electing a person who is capable of governing and protecting all Americans. This one has nothing left...

Extremist Right Wing Groups want to rewrite high schoolers' video at Lincoln Memorial. The Furor is causing the National Park Service to try and "balance" it to should more conservative views. Is nothing secure nowadays? This ridiculousnes has got to stop. The ultra-Christian groups want to rewrite the Constitution.

"The service bought footage of President Bush, pro-gun demonstrations and pro-Iraq war rallies and even considered cutting out a section showing former President Clinton, a Democrat. "

Lovely. What they are neglecting to tell you is that several Presidents are shown on the video, Dem and Repub - "...replacing clinton would require creating a totally new interpretive production. please remember many other presidents, republican and democrat, are shown."

Yes, indeed. Don't you think that we have many more important issues to worry about - like a war?

A July 4th Covenant

We should think about the fact that progressive ideas founded this country and gave us the freedoms we have. That is one thing liberals should be thankful for and conservatives should ponder over this holiday weekend...
